What would you do to get the Ultimate Visual Experience™?

We met Joe Childers at Showdown LAN in Indianapolis last September while he was trying to get a sneak peak at the not yet released “RV670” (aka ATI Radeon™ HD 3800 series) graphics card. Joe was so determined to win some AMD hardware that he took place in every crazy contest we could think of. Alas, fate was not on his side; try as he might, it just was not meant to be.

But fate was on his side. His dedication and commitment to winning was noticed by folks working the AMD booth at Showdown, who watched this committed fan throughout the day and saw an opportunity to do something fun with him and show AMD’s support for the community at the same time...

You see, it turns out Joe and Rebecca are not only dedicated AMD fanatics, but are fanatic about each other as well. On September 22, 2007 they tied the knot in front of friends and family, and offered AMD a unique opportunity to be a part of their wedding memories. When they sent us the pictures we almost fell over. The whole wedding party; bride, groom, best man, maid of honor, ushers- all of them were sporting AMD tattoos on their foreheads.

ON THEIR FOREHEADS!!!!

To reward them for their fanaticism we offered them the best wedding gifts we could possibly think of: AMD hardware! We sent two ATI Radeon™ HD 3850 graphics cards and Asus M2R32-MVP 580X CrossFireX™ motherboards for the bride and groom to get them started down the right path, or at least keep them from arguing over who has the better system. Featuring support for DirectX 10.1 and PCI-e 2.0, we are proud to have been able to help Mr. and Mrs. Childers leave their friends and family in a pile of graphical dust.

AMD wishes Joe and Rebecca all the best and look forward to seeing them at future LAN events!

Darren McPhee is a Senior Marketing Manager for Gaming at AMD, and has been playing games since the early 80s, when his parents bought him something called the Magnavox Odyssey² (even though all of his friends had either Intellivision or Ataris). He is currently splitting most of his gaming time between City of Heroes and Team Fortress 2
